Metal Gear Solid 4
Hey Christian. I've been playing an awful lot of Metal Gear Solid 4 for the PS3 and I think I'd like to write a page and walkthrough for it. I went to the "Playstation 3 Games" page, but clicking "edit" wouldn't allow me to add another game. So I figured I'd run it by you in the event you have to add it yourself.
Thanks! Bryan
Thanks for the info, Christian. I'll get right on it! Bryan
Hrm. Yo, I was trying to edit a different game page, but I was too afraid to save it, because the main heading wouldn't change and I didn't want to overwrite another game. Maybe I'll take you up on the setting up part. All I would like is a blank page with a link to it from the PS3 games heading and a table of contents. As long as I can edit the TOC, I'll be fine.
Thanks! Bryan
Coolio. Thanks again. Bryan
Hmmm... okay, I think I got it. Sorry. I didn't realise the game title had to be consistent throughout all the pages. It worked as a "back" link when I entered it incorrectly, so I didn't think anything was wrong. Thanks for the corrections! Bryan

Yo. I'm working through the MGS4 walkthrough. Sorry it's taking me so many little saves to get it right. I'm trying to just use the "Show Preview" button to see what it's going to look like, but frequently, I think of something else to add or delete, hence all the little stuff. Most of the changes are with the HTML stuff, and I don't have a way of previewing that offline. I'll try to be more careful in the future.
Also, I keep getting errors like : Could not rename file "/tmp/phpGRkO7w" to "public/3/3d/Metal_Gear_Solid_4_Guns_of_the_Patriots.introcp03.jpg" when I try to upload some map pictures. Is there some kind of file size cap? They're only 50K or so.
Also, I'm taking your advice and keeping the walkthrough all on one page. Now that I see there's a TOC at the top with links to everything I make a header, I don't need any separate pages. Can you delete the "Prologue" one? And also, thanks to me farting around with the special errors, there's a couple double pictures in the memory. Could you delete "Checkpoint_03.jpg" and "Metal_Gear_Solid_4-_Guns_of_the_Patriots.introcp1.jpg"? Just to keep things clean.
Thanks!
Bryan
Japangameman
Hi Christian. I've been browsing several pages here in GameWiki, and I've noticed that user Japangameman has done a lot of harmful edits.
Here is merely one example: http://gamewiki.net/index.php?title=Forest_Speyer&diff=1880&oldid=1832
Nonetheless, it's good to have this site. Now we just need to lure more users here, ay?
- Thanks, taken care of. The user has been blocked, his edits reverted. --Simon Moon 12:37, 1 March 2008 (EST)
Pigeon map
is it possible to get the numbers from Oficial guide for pigeons? i can remake the map with numbers in it...
Glad to help; I'm currently working on labeling all of the dots with the corresponding numbers as I go through them for the achievement. --Bigboehmboy 10:50, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
Three Leaf Clover
why do you keep removing that beating three leaf clover unlocks aldernay, while leaving in that beating blow your cover unlocks algonquin? it makes no sense
- Hi. I wanted to confirm it first, since it is a rather important thing. I added it back in, thanks for the addition. --Christian Riesen 11:23, 17 May 2008 (EDT)
GTA images.
Will do Christian. I would send my images to you, but I'm pretty much making them and uploading one at a time so I don't get confused. Thanks though. I'm also starting to work on adding some more info to the individual vehicle pages, although I don't have much of it yet.
QUB3D
there should be an article on QUB3D. its required for 100% im pretty sure, and people are having trouble with it. could discuss strategies, how to get powerups, and so on
- Working on a guide for all the games, including QUB3D. Once you udnerstand how it works, it isnt hard. --Christian Riesen 10:48, 21 May 2008 (EDT)
GTACW Map
You changed the map posted for GTACW to an older one which is outdated, has missing items, and has quite a few misplaced items. Unless the map you are reverting to is better, please don't change it. Haruspex 23:26, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
I'm not sure which credits you're talking about, since I take it quite seriously to maintain credit where credit is due. They appear neatly in a box in the lower-right of the map alongside the legend, so as to promote viewing. If you feel some names are missing, you have only to tell me which ones and I will add them.
Your version of the map is missing quite a few key elements, including a random encounter, 2 of the most missed safehouses in the game, several rampages, not distinguishing rampages from riding shotgun making them difficult to find in-game, odd jobs, unique stunt jump billboard locations, etc. Also, your base map, the blank map underneath all the icons, has several locations where the pixel alignment is off from the actual in-game map due to large striations both vertical and horizontal. I am still in the process of remedying that. I have a perfect base map which I extracted from the actual ROM file, but I have not moved all the icons over to it yet. As I care about keeping them in their exact location from the game, this is quite a bit of work.
Most importantly, however, it is the end-user who matters here, not the creator. It is not me and it is not you who take precedent. The people who pick-up the map to use it deserve the most complete available. It does not matter who made it, in the end. The final user doesn't actually care, although they are thankful. So, I think it most prudent to keep whichever is the most accurate and complete map available on the wiki page for GTACW. As long as that is maintained, I have no qualms, whether it be my map, your map, or some completely different map. You should always keep the end-user at the top of your mind, not yourself.

Ah, so you want the GameWiki URI included as an online touchpoint. If so, this map is also hosted at GameFAQs, so it would be appropriate to include both. I will be sure to add those in the next revision. I was only thinking of the people whom should be credited, not locations, but that makes good sense. As for uploading files overtop of one another, you'll see that is what I have done with the map I uploaded. However, I thought it would be a poor choice at the time to write over yours, forgetting that it keeps a nice history which can be rolled back and forward if necessary. If you would like, I can revert to using the location of your map with the current or next revision, or will continue to use the location of the map I uploaded. Haruspex 18:11, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
I have uploaded the latest version of the map over-top of the original as you requested and updated the appropriate pages. When I first began filling in the blanks on the map, I had found the map on GameFAQs, but obtained the file for editing from here as I assumed it to be the latest version. I didn't begin editing until I realized you hadn't updated in a while and wanted to flesh it out for everyone else. I also added the page about Random Encounters and filled in much of the drug dealing medal information, along with other various edits on other GTACW pages. It's good to help people. Thank you for the space and support. Haruspex 17:17, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
