Summary
Also known as just Mirrors Edge, this game from DICE is a new twist on the usual first person games. Instead of going Rambo style through the world, Faith, the protagonist, is a runner that relies on speed an momentum to survive.
The game is placed in a world of tomorrow. Everything is perfect, at the price of big brother watching every move of every person and every bit of data. Faith is one of the many runners that transport data the old fashioned way, on their persons, to bypass the official channels. As her sister gets framed for a murderer she investigates what happened and gets sucked into the whole plot herself.
Looking at her moves, it reminds you largely of free running, but a more extreme variety. Weapons are around, but Faith only uses them temporary while relying mainly on her agility.

Plot
The world is all clean and nice, at least that's how it looks like. A controlled world, where everyone is watched and every communication is tapped, a group of people who transport items and information off the grid are relied upon. They are called runners and can get undisturbed from one place to another.
Faith is one of these runners. Her sister is a cop that got framed for killing an influential man. Now Faith is trying to uncover what lays behind all this, finding information, the real killer and who pulled the strings behind the scenes.

History
November 7, 2007. Dice announces the game. Senior producer, Owen O’Brien, commented: “We want to change the way that players are able to move in first person. No more restrictions, no more being blocked by simple barriers such as walls and fences. We want to enable the player to move like a real person, with the ability to run, jump, vault and slide in a way that has never been seen before in a first person game."
July 10, 2008. Rhianna Pratchett has been named as the script writer for Mirror's Edge. "It was a great experience working with the team at DICE to help breathe life into Faith; her world, relationships and backstory," said Rhianna Pratchett. "My heroines and heroes have always been the ones who were ordinary, but through the events of a story, became extraordinary. Faith is skilled, but she's certainly not a superhero. She has her flaws, like all of us. In short: she's real. That's her appeal." Along with this, a video has been released in a cell shading style showing more of the background of Mirror's Edge story.
