Assassin Missions

These missions are not part of the story, but needed for 100%. Completing these missions counts for 2% of the game progress.

You can start these after the "Truck Hustle" mission, when Phil tells you that you have some extra opportunities there. You get them at the one location in Alderney, in front of a pay phone. As you get the missions, you can pick up an armor vest and some weapon behind the crates behind the fence left of the pay phone. It is marked on the map as a cross hair. The guy you talk to gets added to your phone as "Fixer".

Before starting a mission, stock up on grenades, have a couple of rockets, some sniper bullets, assault rifle ammo, full health and armor. These missions are handed out randomly, so you never can be sure what exactly will start when you take the missions.

Water Hazard

Reward: $3000 (Confirmed 06.18.08)

The Fixer says your target is on a boat trip in the channel between Tudor and Acter. He wants you to ensure they don't return from their outing. Grab the Body Armor and mission-specific weapon near the fence, then take a cab to the target destination.

The cab drives you to the perfect spot when you take it to the target destination. Hop in the small boat at the pier if you want to get closer to your target. Otherwise, equip the sniper rifle, and run south to the bulkhead. Take aim through the scope to the nearby sailboat in the channel. Snipe the target aboard to complete the mission.

Bryan's Strategy:

The target is on a boat, but the boat doesn't run until you shoot. Take heed of the waves causing the boat to move up and down, and just snipe the guy from the street. After he is dead, the boat "drives" away. You might try shooting the guy behind the helm to see if the boat can't move after that. I didn't try it.

Derelict Target

Reward: $7000 (Just completed 06.18.08 on my PS3 and got $4000. Confirm anyone?)

You have to kill three men. Approach from the east between the houses and you see the first guy with some others between a van and the building. Kill him and the guys with him. Another guard is standing in a window a couple levels up. Go inside the empty building and up one level. Two guys are standing guard here. Take the southern stair way and kill the one just on top, then go up. Fight your way to the top and take down the guys on each level. With the last one down, you are done.

Bryan's strategy:

I did this mission twice. I'm quite OCD and I like to take my time and keep my distance. I followed the GPS from the payphone to the street to the West of the building complex where the targets are. From the street, I used my Sniper Rifle to take out one target on the ground outside, and a couple other guys hanging around. Just wait until they peek out and pop them.

Then, I hugged the building on the North of the passageway between where I parked and the target building. From there, I was able to eliminate the second target with my rifle. He's the one a floor up in a window.

The first time I tried this mission, I began at the bottom of the building and worked my way upwards. For no reason at all save for the challenge, by the fourth or fifth floor, I was given a two-star wanted level. Not wanting to charge up the building and get killed by Assault Rifle and Shotgun-toting businessmen, I continued my strategy. Within thirty seconds, the cops had stormed the building and forced me into a crossfire between them and the criminals. Needless to say I was killed.

The second time, instead of entering the building from where a gray "Deliver Me Timbers" Speedo and a red Merit are parked, I circled around it. On the East side, all the floors are exposed. From the courtyard of the building across the East from where the targets were hiding, I was able to pick off five or six men using the rifle. At this point, I was awarded a one-star wanted level. I ran around the back of the building and down an alley to the North, out of the wanted area and it disappeared like normal.

After that, I returned to the building and slowly worked my way upwards. There's some health kits on the walls near the middle and top floors, but I didn't find any armour. At the second from the top floor, you can see from the GPS that the last target is against the wall on the West side of the building, out of rifle range. Well, from the staircase to the top floor, I threw a grenade in the general direction of the target and he was taken care of. No more wanted levels. As Niko is apt to do in this game, and one of the most annoying features in it, was to pull his phone out to report that the hit was a success before I'm out of danger. I had to slowly walk away from a couple shotgun blasts while talking on the phone. I never did find out where the shots came from.

Bailing Out for Good

Reward: $3000 (Confirmed 06.18.08)

At the red blip is a police station. The guy comes out. You might be able to kill him fast then, or you wait until he gets in the car and drives off. Kill him either outside or follow the car and kill him that way. Either way, once he is wasted (even if not all passengers are dead) you are done.

Bryan's Strategy:

This is one of those missions where time is not of the essence until you get close enough to trigger the next sequence of events. Once you've accepted the mission, you have unlimited time to get to the target area. But once you get close enough to trigger the words "Eliminate the target", the target and one of his friends will begin walking from the police station to a car parked on the curb.

As soon as I got the subtitle to eliminate, I stopped the car, got out, and sniped the guy from the street. He's moving, but at a steady pace, so it wasn't very difficult. I hate chasing cars down. It takes forever.

R.U.B. Down

Reward: $4000 (Confirmed, PS3, 06.18.08)

Your target is in the industrial park not far to the South, over a wall from a police station. There are actually three, and they are all on bikes. Your best chance is to get close and kill all the guys there with an assault rifle quickly. If one runs away, you have to chase them down and kill them. If you are fast though, that won’t be necessary.

Bryan's Strategy:

The first try, I plowed into the group of people at high speed with a car, killing one, de-biking another, but missing the third entirely. With one on the ground and one on a bike, I lost the biker. So much for a "sledgehammer" technique.

The second try, I parked pretty close to them and walked to the other side of a wall to the targets' West. I lobbed a grenade over the wall towards where they were on the GPS, which killed one and also got me a Flying Rat. Immediately after I threw the grenade, I climbed over the wall and shot the others off their bikes with my Carbine Rifle. It was three Sanchezes, with two people on each. I rider and a gunner. The rider is the target, but kill them all anyway and take their ammo. With enough skill, I bet you could kill all three with a single grenade, but without being able to see them, it would be luck.

I was going to try and snipe them from a ways away, but since a police station is on the other side of the wall nearest the targets, there were cops everywhere. Using a firearm from far enough away would be sure to attract unwanted (forgive the pun) attention.

Industrial Action

Reward: $7500 (Confirmed 06.18.08)

Three more guys have to die in the industrial park, to the south. They are up high on some walkways. Use the sniper form the north side and pick off as much as you can. Then get closer and they will come towards you. Take the rest out, which should be easy since there is not much cover for them, and you got this one done.

Bryan's Strategy:

Pretty much what the above paragraph says. Once you start shooting, a couple guys might get scared and run down to ground level. Just keep an eye on their blips and be sure to notice if the "^" goes away. I just chased them down on foot. The other guys up higher don't move, so no rush. Go for the headshots!

Taken Out

Reward: $ (Figure needed. I was in too much of a hurry to get away and I didn't notice.)

This one is moving in a convoy. Take a good handling car and drive up towards the target. They stay static until you get closer. The game will give you a message about the convoy and then they start moving. It is a stretch and two SUVs. The simplest way is to station yourself somewhere and blow the stretch to bits with a rocket. Alternatively, ram the stretch, kill the driver, which will make the guy inside panic and exit the car. Now kill him however you please.

Bryan's Strategy:

Pretty much the same thing. I waited until the limo turned towards me as I was parked in the middle of the street and then I unloaded my SMG on it. As I got rammed by a Patriot, the Stretch drove in into an alley where it got stuck. I drove around the Patriot and crashed my Huntley Sport into the Stretch. At that point, all the machine gun hits my vehicle was taking caused it to flame out of the rear wheel wells. I got out and ran away. When it blew, it took out the limo and the target too. I was too busy walking away from the rest of the target's crew's bullets while talking on the phone (AARGH!!) to notice how much the payout was.

Migration Control

Reward: $3000 (Confirmed 06.19.08)

Grab the weapon behind the fence, it is a rocket launcher, you will need it. Go to the booth tunnel, then drive to the right side of it, down the stairs and up the stairs in front. Don't go to close to the helicopter. Aim your rocket on it and wait for the guy to get into the helicopter or very close. Now fire it and blow the chopper up. If it doesn’t kill him, switch to the sniper rifle and take him down with that.

Bryan's Strategy:

I rode a motorcycle to where I could just see the helicopter in the distance. If you're far enough away, the copter is there, but there aren't any people around. If you get close enough to trigger the sequence, a car will spawn at the base of the helipad and a pilot will spawn in the helicopter. I took aim with my sniper rifle and tried to shoot the pilot, but all that did for me was give me a two-star wanted level.

So I got back on my bike and stormed the place. The target was just getting out of the car when I pwn3d him with my Carbine Rifle. Then I ran from the cops.

NOTE: Though you're supplied with an RPG for this mission, it doesn't become available from the Weapons Shops or Little Jacob afterwards.

Dead End

Reward: $7500 (Confirmed 06.18.08)

Go towards the blip. The car there will run away a bit south and then go into an alley. Do not shoot at it. In the alley, it will stop, this is an ambush. There are a lot of enemies here coming from all directions. Two get out of the car you followed, another car comes from the back and blocks you, and more come out of the warehouse to the left and from the top right. Your best chance is to enter the alley before the one they go into. It will overlook where they are parked. If you stand on top of the dumpster in the corner, it should activate the fighting and you can use an AK to pick them off easily. Another way is to stay back around the corner where the car is blocking you, and kill them as they come at you. You might take a few hits that way, but you should survive.

An easier way through this mission is to get out of your vehicle before entering the alley. Then get closer to the target on foot and slay him.

Bryan's Strategy:

I got the shaft in the ambush. I tried to creep in close with my car and shoot from my window until my car was hit from behind. As I was trying to back it up a ramp, I got pulled out of it by a thug. Rather than fight there, I turned tail and ran back to the street before I equipped my Carbine Rifle and ladled out some hot steamy Cream of Justice Soup. None of the targets try to run away. They all run towards you. There was also a woman in a miniskirt with an uzi who was one of the targets. That was a first.

Afterwards, I was barely clinging to life, and I was bitter about the ambush, so I piled all their cars together and blew them to smithereens with a grenade. Take THAT dead people!!

Hook, Line and Sinker

Reward: $3000 (Confirmed 06.19.08)

The target is on a boat. Drive up north towards the blip. Look at the map. Where the blip is, is a boat. Use that boat to get closer to the targets boat that is further out. You will get that blip when you get close to the shore. As you get closer, the target runs away. Now just follow the boat and shoot at it with your SMG. It does not matter if you actually hit the target or the guard next to them, just shoot the boat constantly, until it blows up.

With this you are done with the Assassin Missions.

Bryan's Strategy:

When you're still on land, you get the trigger to eliminate the target. You can't snipe anybody from shore, as they're too far out.

I took a Jetmax that's near where the GPS sent me and creeped up on the other boat. I like to snipe things you see. It keeps missions uncomplicated and it keeps Niko alive.

Anyway, I boated around the rear of the target boat so I could see the occupants' heads inside. When I was close enough to kill either occupant with the Sniper Rifle, I could see that the red "target" arrow wasn't on either occupant, but it seemed to be pointed at the boat itself.

So I switched to my Carbine Rifle and peppered their boat until it motored off. I had taken the Jetmax parked at the docks, so they were pretty easy to reel in. I continued to shoot them with the SMG. I killed one guy and he fell out of the boat. As for the other guy, well, I couldn't hit him. But enough shots caused the boat to explode, which I think was the purpose of the mission.
