APB/Wheelman
From GameWiki
In APB, as a Criminal, you can get money, standing and some more perks out of the Wheelman role. To see how far along you are, just hit the J button, click on Roles and there you see it. You can get a maximum level of 15 with it, but that's a long way off.
The job is simple, get as many cars delivered as you can. Doesn't matter if they are parked or on the road, any car works. The more the car is in good shape, the better money (and progress) you get. Also higher level cars pay better and give more progress.
Since stealing parked cars is one of the best options, try to get a slim jim equipment as soon as you can. The F-Series SJ Mk IV is the highest one and reduces time to jack a car by 40%. It only requires a rating of 25 but also costs 25'000$. So if you can, get it from someone else, which will greatly reduce time you need to wait.
The exact rewards you get are not yet known.
It takes an estimated 6000 cars to get from level 0 to completion of level 14 (so you are level 15). With an estimated 1 minute per car, that's 100 hours of time you spend on this. So if you want to get there, you can, people have done it, but it will take you a lot of time of repetitive tasks.
But there is a strategy that can help you make it easier.
First, bring up the instance selection screen (district select, then instances tab). There select financial district and all languages. Now look for the district with the lowest count of enforcers and join. This way you get less bounty missions forced on you while doing this.
Now spawn in the southeast part of the city and bring up the map. Enable the vehicle drop offs and look at the two in the southeast that are basically connected by the high way. Go to the eastern one of the two.
Now get your player car, and park it on the street just east of this drop off point. There is a space in the wall to the street to get in, just park it a bit north of that, so you can still get easy in and out. Park it so it covers both lanes a little. The idea is simply that your player car does not vanish unless destroyed or unless you spawn a new one. It will stop NPC cars and while you come back, you can always grab one of these stopped cars here.
Grab any other car and drive under the highway to the other drop off. Drop the car and then look straight out of the drop off zone. You can see a large truck parked a bit down to the east. This truck will always re-spawn and always be there, so you can just go and grab it any time you return here.
Just ping pong between the two points and deliver cars and you should get going pretty well. Here are a few more points though that will help you along the way:
- Keep the cars pristine, this will get you bonuses. You can smash through the fence at the western drop off though without penalty and the small debris on the street wont harm you either. Just get in no fender benders. The bonus is something like 30$ per car.
- There are three classes of cars, medium, expensive and armored truck. The armored truck is the most expensive one. If you see one, drop whatever car you have and get it instead, it will give you a bonus of almost 200$. Expensive cars are the patriot T-25 (4 seats SUV with a flat bed), the large truck (Balkan Kalvo) that spawns at the western drop off, the old two seat muscle car and that also two seat old car that is very slow. Those ones will give you a bonus of about 100$. All other cars are medium priced and give "only" 50$ bonus.
- You get 150$ per drop either way. With bonuses, that's 380 for armored vans, 280 for expensive vehicles and 230 for medium ones, if delivered pristine. If you get one expensive a minute, you an make roughly 17'000$ an hour this way.
- You get also organization standing with delivering vehicles, so pledge to a contact, where you want to level up with. In my experience, I went from level 28 G-Kings to level 29 (and half) with going from Wheelman level 2 to 4. It's not much but it adds up.
- If you get an APB on you, you have two choices, just keep doing this and ignore it, or fight them off. If you want to fight, there is a very good defensible position to the west, a high tier G-Kings contact in an underground parking garage (also great spot to drop off loot). You can hole up in there very easy and restock on ammo and grenades during the fight.
- You get the Wheelman level up a bit after you have delivered the last car for that level required. For some reason the game has a delay on this. So just keep at it and don't let it disturb you that out of the blue you level up although your last drop off was a couple minutes ago.
- On the eastern drop, you can approach it in two ways. When coming from the west, driving under the highway, you can see the pillars of it to your left have at one point some concrete barriers in between the pillars, going south to north. You can cut there north and the to the east again and you stand in the middle of that walled off area where the drop is. This works great for normal cars. With the large truck, you might want to head for the road to the east and then you can just curve around once instead of doing 3 sharp turns in a row.
- There is a command called /missionsoff you can use to turn off mission offers. This only means you wont get unopposed missions. The game still will offer dispatches, calls for backup and of course force the occasional bounty mission on you.
I made a test of stealing cars for exactly one hour as described above. Here are my results:
- 64 Vehicles
- 7 Armored Vans
- 36 Expensive Vehicles
- 31 Mid Price Vehicles
- 53 Pristine Vehicles
- 992 Organization standing
- $16'468 rewards
In that time there were no APB's on me and I could just straight go with it. I would say it averages in at about one car per minute.
